Cairns Bicycle Transport

TriBikeTransfer had a rush of orders for Cairns this year and had a full trip planned.  Recently we had a group pull out so have a few spots that have become available from Sydney.  For those who have been to Cairns before, as with most Destination Events, the airlines and hire car company's get busy and not having the bike to worry about can make all the difference.

If you are interested please contact us direct at dave@tribiketransfer.com.au as the website currently shows only a waitlist and we would like to offer the spots that have come up to existing TriBikers first.

A Timely Reminder
TriBikeTransfer staff are making an effort to qualify for World standard distance this year so know all about the hassles of taking bicycles on planes and interstate travels for Triathlons.  How we wished there was a bike transfer to the interstate qualifiers.  Suffice to say it was a timely reminder about why we started the service in the first place.

Good luck with the autumn training.  Enjoy.

Cairns Jun 2016

Cairns put it on yet again.  Sun and heat that would burn on the Sat before the race and then rain again on race day.  3 years in a row and a heap of wind so well done everyone.

We loved being there cheering friends across the line and really enjoy being a part of this event.  Although it is a long trip for the drivers, it is all in all a pretty special trip and Cairns is always a nice relaxed destination (if you don’t have an IM or 70.3 that is).

New pickup destinations in Newcastle this year as well as Fortitude Valley in Brisbane.  Thanks Cheeky Bikes and Reid Cycles.

Looking forward to doing it again next year.  Any new playlists welcome.

Busso 70.3 & Port Mac, May 2016

Congratulations to all the TriBikers who did Busso 70.3.  With a truck load of bikes from Sydney, TriBikeTransfer was happy to help out with Gordo and the Performance Plus squad who took on the iconic course.  Great to see we could help making the event easier, by taking the hassle out of the bike transfer.  With Busselton being a 3 hour drive south of Perth it is difficult to get there without a hire car and by having the bikes delivered the guys could share cars for the drive.  Thanks again Gordo and crew and hope the training for the New York marathon is going well.

The same weekend TriBikeTransfer did the Port Macquarie IM and 70.3 from Sydney and Melbourne.  A great turnout at the event and we are always in awe of those doing any of these events.  Well done everyone especially in trying conditions with rain and wind.  We enjoyed watching from the sidelines although will bring some more rain gear next time.

Melbourne IM – The Highs and the Lows

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

TriBikeTransfer did Melbourne Ironman transfers again this year.  What an amazing event.  Great weather and IM tried out the new continuous wave start which worked well.  The Pro’s all went together but the age groupers went in lots of 6 with each person’s time starting when they went over the timing mat at the swim start gate.  It meant the bike was much fairer as there was less drafting than the year before.  Still some but much better.  The challenge is that you don’t know who your racing against as the start is pretty much self seeded so it is more like a time trial.  Also makes the swim easier as you don’t have to battle 2000 other people but makes it difficult if you are wanting to race for a spot in Kona or just a high position in your age group.  I wish.

From a bike transfer perspective it went really well. Pickups in Sydney and Canberra.  All the bikes were picked up on Thursday and in Melbourne and dropped off by Friday.

Since most of the people having transfers done were in the St Kilda area we threw in free hotel delivery and also free transfer to T1 if people required.  To get a bus down and have your bike taken by the IM arranged transport is really a bit of a zoo.  Bus schedules changed without notice and some people had to go for a taxi and train to get there in time.  So it was good we could offer to take the bikes down if people wanted.  It worked out well.

Pickup from St Kilda also went well.  The truck was positioned right at the bike pickup and all the bikes were loaded by midday.  Uneventful trip back to Canberra and Sydney and all the bikes made it home safe.  As expected.

Special mention to the 4 TriBikeTransferers who qualified for Kona.  We’d like to think it was a little bit to do with being more relaxed before the race because people didn’t have to worry about their bikes but it more likely had to do with incredible ability.  Congrats.

Also thoughts go out to Martin who crashed the bike at km 30 and then completed 150km’s on the bike and 42km’s on the run before being told he had a broken collar bone and needed hospitalisation, 8 screws and a good dose of morphine. True Ironman spirit.

Noosa, What an event

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Finally we get to write about Noosa.  Even though it was a month ago.

Pretty amazing really.  7000 competitors in the Tri and something like 10-11000 over the weekend.  Not only is Noosa a great location for a triathlon but the event is really well organised.  Although there are some stories of people having to pull out and not being able to get refund’s overall the feedback from people competing was very positive and most of them would do it again.

For those who don’t know what 7000 bikes all in a row look like here are a few thousand.  Imagine 4 times this.

Noosa bikes in trans 2014

TriBikeTransfer did its first transfer from Melbourne to Noosa this year and it went really well.  A big thank you to Bike FO and CBD cycles as drop off places and we are looking forward to future events around Australia.

In total 65 bikes from Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney, 2 trucks and a great time.  Not much spare time for the swimming we were looking forward to, and when we did get there it was late Sun arvo and the wind had come up so not all that good for doing laps in front of the beach but still nice to get into the water.

While we love transporting bikes, it was nice to see the last one dropped off and good to have an empty truck.

Looking forward to next years event though.  Make sure you get in early if you want to compete.  Here is the webpage if you want to enter and remember it gets very busy at the airport and we are more than happy to take the pain of the bike transfer away for you.
